How much is the new Toyota all-electric SUV?

Toyota has officially released its new all-electric SUV, the bZ4X, in the US with a starting price of $42,000. The Japanese automaker unveiled the bZ4X electric SUV last year, but the missing piece of information was its cost in the US. The bZ4X will have an EPA-rated range of up to 252 miles, with an MSRP of $42,000 for the XLE front-wheel-drive models. The buyer and dealer generally negotiate the final price, as Toyota uses the foundation showroom model.

The all-wheel-drive version costs only about $2,000 more than the front-wheel-drive model but drops around 24 miles of range. The ‘Limited’ version of the bZ4X has a few more luxury design accents and 20″ wheels instead of 18″ wheels in the XLE version. In terms of size, the bZ4X is slightly larger than Toyota’s popular RAV4, with comfortable legroom and a 27.7 cubic feet cargo volume behind the second row.

Toyota plans to hit its breaking point for the $7,500 US government tax reduction for electric vehicles this summer, which will trigger a phase-out period that will gradually give less money to buyers. Although Toyota is behind in putting all-electric vehicles up for sale, the bZ4X’s price tag is excellent, and it has the potential to sell as many electric SUVs as it can produce. However, Toyota’s strategy of making only what it needs to conform to regulations and avoid fines may not be successful in today’s market.
